I have heard various things and can't really confirm any of them. A list is reportedly longer or shorter depending on how many candidates. If there are hundreds of them in the system then the admin can request 20 on the list for example.

It looks like it is open to current Japan teachers only. Also, since it is a voluntary move outside of the transfer round the gov't would not pay for the move and local hires could not use a move to pick up LQA benefits.

The same thing happened to me. I had to get 6 credits in order to get the moderate/severe for ES, MS, HS and severe/profound ES, MS, HS. I am certified for everything in my state and have 17 years of experience. DODEA operates differently. It paid off-today I got 3 referral emails! Long and frustrating process.

Nice! I bet we got the same three referrals. I too, was certified for evetthing in my state. Luckily, dodea qualified for me moderate/severe and severe/profound, but I did need to take an additional class for preK Sped and preK and K gen Ed.

Not sure if there is a rhyme or reason... depends on when the principal is ready to start hiring. Sometimes people receive interview requests without making a referral list.

Usually a list is generated when the principal goes into the system and searches for candidates for a specific position (that they already have authorization to hire for).

There have been mixed opinions about contacting principals. Many people feel it won't do any good and could do some harm if it annoys the principal in some way.
Lately I've come to feel it is not likely to do any significant harm and if it can help at all then it is probably worth doing to try and land that all important interview.
