oldshack@haha is there a way I can message you? or can you contact me (fastcarmopar@gmail.com) this is just a junk email, I don't want to post my actual contact email publicly.
If one were to accept an ISS position and after a few years decide to return to the classroom, can they then open their EAS application to move back into a teacher position? ISS positions are through USAjobs and teacher positions are through EAS so I would assume the answer is yes, but I'm wondering what the official answer is.
Snow LaneISS overseas can open EAS to only stateside schools or can request to be moved to a teaching position in their local area. Many ISS don't aspire to be admin and like the role because it's the closest thing to an instructional coach DODEA currently has. The ISS role varies by the type of position, the district, and the supervisor.
Every Monday, they arrive to work with a mental to do list which will allow them to make progress in the "big project" that will really define their contribution to DoDEA. That project is their baby, and really it's the reason the left the classroom. So that they could make a bigger contribution.
But somewhere between using their card key, and logging into the computer, they are invited (yelled at) to join an urgent meeting where (surprise, surprise) the CommunitySup/Assist Sup/Big Sup has some new, urgent, must-be-solved-immediately, problem of the week.
The ISS is told (yelled at) to put everything on hold, and to immediately research various topics, and pathways that might provide a solution. They they need to run through legal in a different time zone, make a power point, and be ready to present it on Wed afternoon, so that the CommunitySup/Assist Sup/Big Sup can then present a solution to the Big Wig/Squeaky Wheel on Thursday.
After that happens a few times, well, it can just be hard to get out of bed on Mondays.
"Job description? Your job is to do whatever I tell you to do. Now, go find a solution, and have that powerpoint ready by Wednesday, or you'll be the new Avid/CCRS instructional coach in Misawa."
I am not saying there aren't reasons to get hired locally, just that getting rights isn't that easy for local hires regardless of what your principal thinks about you.
I have a few questions. I recently applied for an assistant principal position in Europe. I was hoping someone might be able to provide some information for my questions below:
1. how long does it typically take to hear back about whether or not I've been referred?
2. What are my chances as a civilian getting an interview?
3. It is an "excepted" position, is that better for my chances?
4. Isn't it late for this position to be posted? If I'm not mistaken, school has already started.
H1. From me experience anywhere from 4-14 days 2. Not sure, but it at least appears that they likely look through internal applicants prior to looking at stateside applicants. Again, that is just my perception. 3. No idea. 4. DODEA has no problem shifting admin whenever they need, it appears the school calendar has no influence on such matters.
I applied as public, but haven't made it past referred which is understandable that those who put in the time with DoDEA get it! I see them posted all year around.
Just wondering: Have there been any more referrals, interviewe orveven offers for the Virtual hub? Specifically the German hub... Really hoping to be considered for the Ed Tech position...
IcanreadI do believe they have put a hold on filling any more positions with the virtual school at this point. Everyone is trying to get ready for these first weeks of school. It's possible when the dust settles, they will be looking to fill any holes that remain.
My wife recently received her orders and we have completed the pack out request. We're currently waiting for a scheduled date. Are we able to schedule our travel before the pack out date? The documents that they sent her were confusing. TIA
duhahn@Icanread we've got my a family member that will be our POA so that our goods can be packed up. Our orders have us arriving next week and we've heard nothing from the movers since completed the paperwork on Thursday.
IdaWe moved before our pack out. It is a big ask, but if a family member will do it the paperwork isn't the worst (considering all the other paperwork).
My husband is interested in applying for a teaching position overseas on an Italian military base, and we were wondering the average wait time people have gone through from submitting an application to an official offer? I realize there are many determining factors, but we are interested in hearing peoples experience with the process.
IdaSome people apply and get hired the first year they apply. Others apply and never even get an interview. Particularly if you are looking at only one location (Italy), it might take longer. It might not.
G,Bay in Cuba is an obvious exception.
