ecd5CHRA can be sticklers to the job description. So that's a hard one. They will most likely look to see if you meet all the requirements (including already being in the agency). However, you might be in luck if there aren't any other candidates.
IcanreadHaving no dependents could work to you advantage! I saw that there was an internal posting for that job, and I would love to go to Bahrain. But I have three dependents.
https://www.stripes.com/news/middle-east...See MoreSomeone asked about dependents not be allowed when interviewing/being referred for Bahrain. I don't think I even answered because I was confused as I had not heard about Bahrain going unaccompanied. Apparently they are moving in that direction and phasing out dependents for military (and teachers?):
I just got a tentative offer this week and I'm currently doing my paperwork. However, I didn't get a fingerprint or physical form request yet. When will I get that because I already got my benefits, passport, and background check paperwork?
I'm probably not the best person to ...See MoreYou need the prepaid envelope to mail it to the right place, and they were very clear you needed the right form. If i were you I would just check on when they are open and if you need an appointment. The digital live scan was offered off base at different places but they were all booked through August!
I'm probably not the best person to ask. I have been confused every single day now since I got the offer!
1) I was previously a certified teacher for Early Intervention Birth to Three. My cert is B to K and that has always counted anywhere I have worked.
2) The Director of an Teaching Certificate program (college level) for teachers preparing them for the B to K. This also has always counted since I had to have the certificate to have the job. And I wrote and taught the curriculum.
3) A state level consultant with quasi educational agency proving training and TA. Again I had to have the certificate to do the job.
But, I guess they feel like they need to draw a firm line, otherwise everyone would try and justify why THEIR related experience is relevant and should be counted.
Hi all! I saw a post in another message board and wanted to see what input this group may have.
About how much money should someone have saved to cover expenses for an overseas move? Are any expenses covered by DoDEA upfront or are most reimbursed at a later time? Any input would be helpful. Thank you!
I was qualified for Spanish in the EAS system, and today also for German. Waiting for paperwork to qualify for ESL. Any idea about how demanded those positions are. Does it hekp to be qualified for more then one subject?I I inteviewed for a Spanish position, waiting on a response. Any thoughts and ideas. Hopefully there are some good news soon....
ESL is generally provided at all schools, ...See MoreSpanish is taught in every Secondary school (and some MS). So, every high school will have at least one position. It used to be taught at elementary but they discontinued the program.
German is taught in every school in Germany (which are significant in number). I believe at every level.
ESL is generally provided at all schools, at every level (oneish position at every school) and can be combined with other positions.
So, you have some useful certs, that can be combined (at least in Germany). Once you add ESL, you have the potential to combine 3 areas. And, you are getting some interest for just the Spanish, so, all good signs.
1234567FfmThank you, Someone mentioned that Spanish was a certification that many had, and not very much required. I just hope my the ESL paperwork goes thru quicly. Pandemeic and slow burocracy. Thank you for the info.
@haha (or anyone with input), I apologize because we discussed SPED positions a few months back. But, I'm prepping for an interview (yay!!). What population of students are considered Moderate/Severe according to DODEA? Thank you for being such a valuable resource to all of us!
Hi everyone, I have a question regarding the VHS posting in USA Jobs. The posting on USA Jobs is it for a pool of teachers for potential open positions or are there positions actually needing filled. Also do you teach from home or from a school. Thank you in advance.
RJThe hours you work are base don your hub, however you would be supporting DoDEA students all over the world, not just your hub. I don't know why, but some classes are only supported by certain hubs. I had students who had teachers in Europe and the US, yet we are in Japan (which by the way has its own hub in Okinawa).
So I had a dilemma ...See MoreI had an interview this past weekend and I'm just waiting for feedback at this point. I'm thinking that I've probably not been selected, but I'm relieved that I now have the interview experience. Honestly, after several years of applying, I am happy just to make it to the top of the slush pile to even get an interview.
So I had a dilemma this morning when I went in to check and make sure my application reflected my qualifications for future referrals/interviews. I did not have the correct level of education selected! I forgot to change it this past update after I earned more credit. I am wondering if it matters a great deal that it initially stated Masters, and now it's Masters+30.
All of my transcripts are provided that show this, but I know that with HR and principals so busy playing catch-up, it may go unnoticed unless it can be quickly scanned in the short report. But then again, I'm reading that it really doesn't matter in some cases as the principal will choose whoever they want regardless of level of qualifications. I'm a little conflicted.
ecd5The only thing that the masters +30 will help with is determining your actual salary after you are selected. I also do not think that it would be a deciding factor on whether or not you are selected over another candidate with a master's degree.
MyDODThanks you guys! I was feeling the same about the technicality of it not mattering, but uneasy about technology shooting out a referral list based on edu levels and certs. Thought I may have shot myself in the foot for past opportunities.
How long does the federal background check typically take? The prints are due to arrive in MD on Friday. The instructions say it can take up to 10 days after that.
My husband wants to list the house already, I told him he needed to wait until that's done ✔
MsUThanks everyone. With the protests and virus things aresuper unpredictable right now. Our realtor said we should put in our contract that it was contingent upon me receiving the orders and then also ask for 60 days if necessary. Houses in this market typically sell in 3 days with 45 day closings!
