IsItFriday?Almost half of DoDEA teachers are vets (not all vets have points for hiring preference) or spouses. I think that's a reasonable estimate. It's definitely in the ballpark.
So now that it is pretty much June, should we expect more hiring to be done? What I mean is a larger number of referrals going out and a larger number of positions opening up?
hahaPossibly. Maybe. Hopefully. The world is pretty crazy right now and doesn't seem to be calming down anytime soon. Hiring will still get done but the bulk might wait until school is actually closed for the summer.
1)In the public sector, some providers serve multiple schools and are interviewed by district personnel. I understand this site is geared more toward teachers, but for others, does the principal still conduct your interview, or is it someone from outside the school, an ISS maybe?
2)Does anyone remember their interview questions? I can imagine what a few might be, just curious about what I could be forgetting.
3) I guess I'm having a hard time with knowing* if the position I'm looking for is available in the locations I selected? Is there a way to tell? Either way, I threw my name into the hat! Like most everyone here, this is my dream job!
But yes, the vast majority of positions are not advertised and being hired with DoDEA has been compared to hitting the lottery (I think one of my first user names was actually something like that).
Just MeFrom previous experience, I don't believe that they would have bothered taking the time to resend the email if they weren't still considering me, but I could be wrong. I really don't want to get my hopes up for this to be an anomaly or nothing at all.
HIt's not a guarantee. That happened to me two years ago. I know I would've received great references, but I still wasn't offered the job. I assume it's a very good sign, just not a guarantee. Good luck and let us know.
SunnyluringHi all question regarding the VHS posting. Do the teachers actually teach on a camera or just moderate the class and facilitate Questions. Thanks much.
hahaNo real insights unfortunately. School Counselor positions are relatively rare. No real way to know why there was only one interview and/or why an offer has not been forthcoming. Hang in there.
There are a lot of schools/openings in Oki, but "Europe" is a big place ...See MorePotentially somewhat easier, but less so than in the past when many people receiving transfers generally wanted to move from the Pacific to Europe. There can be some movement from Oki towards the mainland, but the chances for those moves a pretty rare in recent years.
There are a lot of schools/openings in Oki, but "Europe" is a big place and there are many schools/openings throughout Europe every year. So, maybe slightly easier but probably a wash.
It's not somewhat...See MoreIt is much easier for a new hire to get a position in Europe than in Okinawa. In fact, it is approximately three and a half times easier to get a position in Europe.
There was no transfer round this spring. And there are many more teaching positions in Europe. Approximately three and a half times more positions.
It's not somewhat easier. It's a whole lot easier.
It's a rookie question, as it asks to compare an Area with a District, and not even a full District at that. It's like comparing apples and oranges.
hahaIt "can" take a few weeks, in the sense that it has all been finalized within that time frame before. Depending on your own unique situation, who is involved with your case, etc. it could happen again.
Historically, 4-6 weeks was considered a relatively fast time, but maybe HR is getting more efficient. :D
