Next to my name, there is a new bracket that says "TEMPORARY INTERNAL DODDS APPLICANT." Does it indicate anything especial, such as a kind of hiring preference? I am not a DoDEA teacher, but I've recently became a substitute teacher.
IcanreadThe format of the bullet points will probably change after you save it and might make it look like a mess. Just double check after you do it. I have all mine in paragraphs because I couldn't get bullets to work.
IdaSomething to remember is that a lot of principal are very preoccupied with COVID 19 response and status at the schools. Although it might seem like a good time to do some hiring, I think they are in a lot of meetings about what e-learning looks like. So that might account for some delay.
2. You can be asked to teach/reassigned to teach any subject that is on your certificate (and generally anything that you are considered qualified in when you are hired will go on your DoDEA certificate).
3. Varies wildly. I have seen 2 in a self-contained class and caseloads that run from 8 to 30 for teachers at the MS/HS level where students are generally in gen. ed. classes for everything/most everything.
4. EBD can always be challenging, but in general, the vast majority of impairments/behaviors will be less severe (for all types of SPED students) than most places in the states due to the screening process.
Advice needed: I am an SLP and looking to apply for EDIS jobs. However, my heart is with DODEA long term. Would taking a hiatus from school aged kids hurt me for DODEA employment? Any help would be helpful!
hahaI don't think so. We work closely with EDIS on many cases so your experience there would be very relevant to DoDEA, regardless of the age of your caseload (and might even help with making some networking connections that couldn't hurt).
IbeforeE@haha - thanks again for the quick reply. I am seeing that the EDIS positions are coming up more frequently however are limited to 3-5 years - - - so that's a relief that DODEA would be see working with EDIS as a plus!
I read that Korea and Bahrain are sometimes hard to fill vacancies and that checking them off your location list might be helpful to land a referral or interview. I was curious if the same could be said for Japan?
hahaThe same could be said about "mainland" Japan. A good number of schools and many teachers preferring/wanting to be at one of the three bases in the Tokyo/Yokohama area, which often leaves openings at the other schools/complexes.
I just realized that while I stated that I was going to submit the "experience form" for pay, I have not printed it out and given it to my employer. Will this render my application "incomplete" so that it will not be considered? Thanks.
hahaAgree. It is helpful to get them completed so that you have them (especially from previous employers) but you generally will not need to submit them unless you are hired.
