If there's a little red asterisk next to the state teaching certificate and official transcripts, does that mean it uploaded correctly? I've had trouble in the past not clicking something correctly or something.
I saw in a recent post that someone had stated, that reloading documents to the document section generate referrals. Has anyone else found this to be true?
dodhopefulThe only documents I reload every year are my 5 state licenses, my college transcripts, and my PRAXIS scoresheet. That ended up being my only referral for the year and it was a part-time job :(
IcanreadI would even go so far as to say that you should re-upload them on a monthly basis. Try it for a few months and see if it triggers more referrals.
HelpOthersOpen and scan one copy and keep an unopened official copy to have signed and uploaded later. If you are near s DoDEA school or HQ, they can open, verify as originals by signing that they were originals and scan and send copies to you.
My uploaded documents are "official" pdf copies of transcripts that I ordered online. It states on the transcript that it is official. Is this still considered an e-transcript? Or does it really matter because they'll want the unopened after the fact anyways?
My second question is about lodging. My school suggested a hotel which is near the school. I found one with amenities I would prefer a few miles away. I am planning on getting my licence and a rental car on day one so I don't think the distance will be an issue. My question though, how many days should I book the hotel for? I see that there are a lot of TLA options in the area but since it is just me I honestly don't mind staying in a hotel for while so that I can find the right one. Is that frowned upon? Will they require me to get into a unit designated as TLA?
HelpOthersDoDEA is charged more for the rotator than what they pay for most commercial flights, so they prefer you not fly the rotator. If a military travel office is booking, they may not realize this.
@someday THAT DRIVERS TEST...oh my goodness it was something else! 200 question practice test then 100 question test. That and all the videos took forever. I was able to take it last week before coming over. I arrived Sunday and I was in the system Monday afternoon so my sponsor printed out my 1172 so that I can go get my CAC then license Tuesday morning.
I've read so ma...See MoreIf you are called for an interview, what time of day are they typically scheduled (Europe, Japan, US). Reading through the posts I noticed one that I couldn't make out if they were notified by email for an interview at 6am or the interview was set for 6am (It was for overseas but can't recall where or if it mentioned it).
I've read so many posts state you are TOLD when to interview, and although 6am isn't early for me, I have a contract job that I teach online during that time and I fix my schedule for 2 weeks ahead. If I cancel class, my contract may not renew after a certain # of cancellations. I've never thought about it until now bc I only ever thought of taking off work from school for interviews where I'm salaried and have the days to take off without penalty.
I just want to plan ahead and possibly not set my online schedules that far in advance during hiring season. I never thought about interviews being conducted that early on US time, but I know time differences must also be convenient for admin. I'll cancel classes for any interview but I'd like to prepare ahead and try to avoid it if possible. I'm finished teaching by 7am and I'm in central time zone.
I went in to update my DODEA application for the year and it looked as if it was already completed? Are they not making us refill it out every year now? Or is it not time yet? Anyone know? Thanks.
lovetotalkslpI was told in a recent email from HR that everyone will become inactive at the end of February for the 20/21 school year. At that time we will need to update application and make ourselves active again!
HelpOthersTour application looks the same, but the boxes won't be checked. Make sure to upload your certificate and transcripts again even if nothing has changed.
I have a state license to practice Speech Language Pathology in Texas and have worked in the Texas schools for the past 3 years as a Speech-Language Pathologist. However, in Texas, the license is issued by the Board of Speech Language Pathology and not the Texas Education Agency. I also have a Virginia state license as a School Speech Language Pathologist and practice teletherapy for that state, but again, this is no longer issued by the Virginia Board of Education as of 2014. I also have my national license and CCC-SLP designation from ASHA. Are my qualifications actually not enough and my only option is to take the Praxis I? I looked it up and it doesn't even look like there is a Praxis 1 anymore, so do they mean the Praxis CASE?
I've heard that ISS is easier to land a job with. Are there actual k-12 teaching jobs in ISS or USA Jobs? I feel like I understand okay the Dod eas system but I'm in the dark on the others.
If that was the meaning, THAT ISS is just one recruitment agency for international schools. Search Associates is another (possibly better) one. It would generally be easier to get into an int'l school than with DoDEA, if for no other reason than there are many more schools/openings every year in int'l schools than there are with DoDEA. Salaries, living/working conditions, etc. would obviously vary wildly from school to school on the int'l circuit. The bigger/better schools would be in the same ballpark as DoDEA. A much larger percentage would be not AS good, but could also be located in countries with lower cost of living and/or you would likely pay no US income tax, so it would about even out.
If someone really wants to live/work overseas and isn't married to the idea of doing it with DoDEA, then int'l schools are interesting, probably more viable option. Teachers can sign up with an agency, or just apply directly to any school in any country that intrigues them.
Some of you mentioned about getting an email to update your application. Is that an auto email? I haven't got one from anyone. But I just changed my "target date" to 2020-20211. Is it too early to do that? Not sure if they are still hiring now for this school year?
HelpOthersYes. Update soon. You could keep tour date available the same. If they don't find a candidate in the 19-20 pool, they will search the 20-21 pool of applications.
