Teaching Jobs on Teachers.Net

I applied for an ISS position in Korea. The closing date was 2/3/17 and I thought I'd see a status change in my application pretty soon since the hiring freeze was lifted almost a month ago now. My application status on USAJOBS.GOV still says "received for processing", but no further advancement statuses have been updated. I saw where someone mentioned movement in Korea now and I have a friend at HQ in Alexandria who said HR is REALLY backed up right now in a lot of places. I am just curious if anyone knows how these positions work? Is there a "referral" process similar to the one the teacher application system is on? The website says I will be notified via USAJOBS.GOV if my application "advances" or is "reviewed", "cancelled", "not selected" etc. I just don't know if I trust that or not...lol.

happyteacher How did you feel about the interview? Did they give you an idea of when they'd make the decision?

SpedTeacher74 I haven't interviewed...I have no idea where they are in the decision making process.

SpedTeacher74 I did a follow up email to the superintendent today. Hopefully she will respond. My friend at HQ in Alexandria said the super's are responsible for hiring the ISS positions.

haha The ISS positions seem to be very much their own animal. It is generally believed that they almost always go to teachers/admin already in the system (and who have connections). Also, it is virtually always a useless position, so some new blood would be appreciated since maybe someone with fresh thinking would do more with the job then forward the o...See More
