Hello, I've been following this chat board for sometime now and it has been very helpful.

How many Japanese immersion schools doesn't DoDEA have? I tried looking but the only school I could find was in Okinawa. Are there none in other parts of Japan or around the world?

I'm debating whether I should take the OPI (Oral Proficiency Interview) and apply to these dual immersion schools.

Also, will my chances be higher if I apply as a multilingual teacher? Thanks for your help!

The website here lists language immersion as one of the categories. I wonder why they have it if they don't even even have immersion schools anymore :(

HelpOthers Icanread is correct. The exact same response is also true for all the DoDEA schools in mainland Japan. However, when principals choose who to interview, being fluent in Japanese might get you the interview if you are on their referral list. You may also want to consider how many credits you might need to add ESL. DoDEA schools in all of Japan do ha...See More
