why do children draw?

why do children draw i have been interested in this topic and would just like some feed back from a teacher point of view.

Schari An interesting question that I'm having trouble coming up with an answer for. Perhaps because it is so simple? I don't know.

A few stabs I would make at an answer:

As they develop from birth, first large muscles then on to smaller muscles, I would say picking up and exploring a writing implement and using those fine finger muscles...See More
