We talked about fine motor activities in the preschool chat tonight. Some activities we do are:

Sorting, counting with small counters

Cutting and fringing paper

Cutting playdough and modeling clay

Lacing

Making tracing stencils from sturdy cardboard

Providing shapes and/or lines to practice cutting on

Making playdough

Cutting (and squishing!) bananas

Provide a box with scrap paper for children to cut while they sit IN the box!

Cave writing (suggested by meeeha!)-tape paper under a table and the children lay down and draw or write on the paper that is above them!

Shaving cream play

Dress up clothes

Housekeeping-sweeping, opening and closing containers, etc.

Cutting pasta with scissors

Pin Poking—draw shapes on construction paper. Attach to a carpet square or soft item. The children use push pins, tacs, toothpicks or other tool to poke on the lines. Ann...See More
