lease advise. I have done everything by the book. I started the school year with strong expectations. I planned and practiced procedures. Yet my students still do not listen to me or seem to take me seriously. They talk over me and other students. They constantly disrespect me. I just don't get it because I am very organized, caring and I have a very dynamic teaching style. I strive to get to know my students and provide positive behavior support, but it's not working for me. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hurley I am facing a similar situation. This is my 4th year teaching 3rd grade. It is the first year I've had serious problems keeping the class in order. What do you call "positive behavior support"? If it's your complementing or praising them when you catch them doing what you want them to do, many students find that condescending and intrinsically disrespectful.
