Hi! I am a flute teacher from Austria and I am looking for decent flute beginner books for kids (7-12). Maybe I am spoiled from the great selection we have in German but I am having a very hard time finding good ones in the US. Help!!!! Thank you!
LisHi, Amber. I haven't used his methods because I teach older students, but I have had a workshop that he led. I thought it was phenomenal and I agree with his educational philosophy 100%. I did get two of his books and also a movement dvd, and have incorporated them when I can. I don't think you will go wrong with his materials.
Aside from being more fun than flash cards, and more random than repeated practice of the same thing (which leads to finger fluency, but isn't so useful for sight-reading practice), is that I want to lead the students to get "relative reading" -- that is, knowing the next note positionally from the previous one. Also, the cards could represent complex fingering sequences.
I just think that it's so obvious that there should be cards like this that they must already exist. Does anyone here know of a collection of such cards, or am I going to have to make them myself?
Chrisi.FischerIt is easy to make the card with the notes on it, I recommend making the cards with all quarters, all halves, all eighths, etc, Then advancing on to mixing the rhythms, make sure they are simple rhythms. Also make sure that the students have rests in there. I hope this helped!
I'm writing a paper about music education and I need people who have experience in the field to be my sources! Can anyone provide any information that I could use?
LisWhat specifically are you looking for? You can check the American Orff Schulwerk Association website. I believe they have several articles pertaining to the topic. Try AOSA dot org
Long-time tnetter looking for help finding a source for durable but inexpensive simple musical instruments. I'm a former teacher now heading up a nonprofit working with kids in poor rural villages. On my next trip I'd like to take down 100 or so kazoos. Does anyone have a recommendation, either for a brand of kazoo or an online source?
