While Democrats are howling that the Senate's health care bill would gut Medicaid, a closer look at the numbers shows the legislation actually would increase spending to the safety-net program—by tens of billions of dollars.

According to the latest 'score' from the Congressional Budget Office, Medicaid spending would rise from $393 billion in 2017 to $464 billion in 2026—that's a $71 billion, or 18 percent, increase.

Tim Finnegan Actually Steve, in Washington, that can be considered a cut. Remember, Trump ended all funding to Meals on Wheels ... that was the story the media and the Democrats pushed. Even though he cut only a small percentage.

In Washington, increases in spending are often considered cuts.

T.E.C. - Iowa First, you have to admit that Republicans do not like Medicaid - as seen by their refusal to do the expansion. Then you had to admit, they would get rid of it - if they could. The question is how?
