parent drivers for field trips

I teach in a church based preschool. We occasionally take field trips using parent drivers. Does anyone else do this and what is your policy regarding this? Car seats and seat belts are an absolute must. anything else?

KathyB What has been stated is GREAT! But, experience makes me add -- adults only, no siblings. It hard enough to maintain control, if we allowed other siblings. Also, if we go somewhere that things can be purchased, our district has a policy for young elementary students that there will be no purchasing. Karen PK GA I used to teach in a church based school. Ditto what the others said. In addition, our parents were required to have a minimum of $100,000 coverage in car insurance, must be age 25 or older, and have a criminal background check.

i may be repeating since i didn't read all the replies...but these days any parent/adult who is 'in charge' of students (this is in public school but a good thing to do anywhere) must pass a criminal background check. in my opinion...that would be first and foremost...and absolutely appropriate car seats and seat belts!!! i would also require copy of driver's license...See More
