I have a student in reading recovery and is now reading on a level 17, he is moving into 18's tomorrow and feel he will be on 20's by the end of the school year. He is progressing quickly after catching on. He recently read a book that has the word "says". He says it phonectically correct. I have discussed with him that most people say "sez" but he insists on reading it his way. He knows exactly what it means and it does not effect meaning or comprehension it just sounds a little off to others. I feel that he is using it correctly and I don't need to correct it or spend alot of time on it, but, other RR teachers are debating me on this and feel that I should make him say "sez" and not let him say it "saz". I know it is a little silly but the issue stays. Any comments???
