Our school is looking at purchasing reading programs for special education population students with stimulus money. I have looked at many and haven't found the results I am looking for. Two of the ones our director is looking at are Scholastics System 44 and Expert 21. Neither of these hit the middle lexile readers and are used in tandem with READ 180 which we have at the middle level but not the high school. Any programs out there that you would suggest. I know comprehension is an issue that also seems to get excluded in some programs.

Adam I would take a look at Merit Software's high school reading programs. It is high interest, self-paced material focusing on comprehension and inferencing.

Students receive immediate, personal feedback as they work through the software. Scores are automatically tracked. Reading levels range from a 2.0 to 11.0.
