If you or someone that you know fits that description, please let me know. I hope this will make us better teachers and our students better citizens and our country less divided and polarized.
First time poster. I hope your school years have been going well.
I'm a old timer who has suddenly realized that I'm not reaching the students of today. I need to revamp my 8th Grade curriculum BIG TIME!
So, I'm looking for any help you may have to offer. What topics do you focus on during the year? I sure have trouble catching all of the topic from Colonies to Industrial Revolution in US History. Have any especially engaging curriculum you might wish to share or point me too?
I have my students doing waste management....and to help them make meaning to their research I have them playing out scenarios made from issues that occur. Have I done the right thing in this or is there another path that I can take?
bcaipenI have been talking a lot about this topic in my current events mini lessons I do every Friday. You bring up some good points! I like how you connected it to the Cuban Missile Crisis. I have talked to my students about that connection as well. I will search your name and check out your site to see how you connected these ideas in a lesson! Thanks.
I am grade 5 teacher in Alberta. To teach geography of Canada I would like to send a teddy of some kind to each territory and province and hear about your culture and important things about your province is anyone interested? I will send your class a teddy and letters, you then send the teddy back with a picture and a letter about your province.
My district just purchased this series. I have not had a social studies text for the last 7 years, so I'm looking for pros, cons, how you use it, what you like, what you don't like, etc. Thanks so much!
AngieLI'd check different state department of education's teacher tabs. Also google specifically and add "for teachers." You'd be surprised at all the great things teachers post on their school websites or wiki spaces pages. Also try Horrible Histories and Crash Course History on YouTube to spice things up.
