I had a student that is ADHD. From my understanding his grades were poor (D and F) until he got meds. Afterwards his scores went through the roof (mainly A). His dad says he doesn't need the medicine and has taken him off of them. He has been in many conference saying that the student need the meds. The father still hasn't changed his mind. The student past my class (with a low grade) but had a hard time focusing. Is there away for me to help a student like this get more focus and engaged in the lesson? What are something you have tried that has helped? I teach automotive and he was in the 10th grade. Looking for help for students following the same type path. He was also very drawn back and very few friends. Grade improved a little after I added some free time on the computer for him getting engaged but still wonder what other ways could I have helped.
