I have the opportunity to apply for a $500 mini grant for an elementary classroom. I would love to do some type of hands on project with my students. Does anyone have any ideas? It would be for grade 2 or 5. I am open to any and all ideas. Thanks, Kat

There is a company called Student Treasures that will send you the materials. The kids write and illustrate the book, then you send it back to the company and bind it into hardcover books. The books are around $18 each. I've done this for 3 years now. It's a lot of work, but seeing their excitement makes it worth it.
I have tried writing grants to some major companies in the Minnesota area (Pillsbury, Target, Medtronic, etc) and I have never received one, I think because we are a private religious school. Does anyone know of any grants web sites that I can apply to that favor private schools?? Thanks
There are several ways you can go. Contact me and I will see what I can do for you. One grant program is the State Farm grants.

Well the question that begs to be asked is why you aren't a non-profit organization? Is it because you don't want to go through the process of doing so?
If you become a non-profit organization then you can apply for funding.
Can you still apply for funding if you're not a non-proit? Yes but it will be tricky and will require some "tweaking" of what it is that you want to do.
Please e-mail me if you have ANY information on applying and/or obtaining grant money to buy an ESL (English as a a Second Language) center which will soon be available for sale in Florida - is grant money awarded for a business which has already been established for a significant period of time?? Thank you so much.
I just posted a message regarding learning any information on obtaining grant money to be used towards the purchase of an ESL center in Florida - PLEASE, you can send your reply to my e-mail address at [email removed].

You know even though some people have asked about grant monies for all sorts of things it suddenly occured to me that there are actual grant programs where you can spend the grant money any way you want! One such grant program has a grant award of $100,000 which is paid to the individual - so its not a non-profit grant.
While this is not the only one of this type of grant program available I'm wondering just how much of a grant amount you are asking for?

If you are running a home daycare and you would like to be officially declared as a home daycare agency with the government you have until July 1st 2007 to register. You can contact the government agency either by email or by phone.
Getting yourself declared a home daycare agency will let you be eligible for some of the government grant programs.
I also want to emphasize that FOR-PROFITS are eligible to apply!
You didn't say who should be contacted for this. Please try and make things more clearer. A lot of your posts are too general or not specific enough to do any good. Be specific or stop generalizing. Most of this stuff we already know.

If you already know the stuff then why are you complaining?

The only problem here is that you don't mention what TYPE of youth program you want to start. There are numerous grant programs out there relating to youth programs but you just can't be general and say that you want a grant to start a youth program. You have to be specific on the type of youth program that you want to start.
Many grantwriters can help you tailor the kind of program that you want to start to any of the grant programs that are related.
