I teach fourth grade and have between 30-45 students each year. I've been toying around with the idea of getting fish for the class. I love Philodendrons and I've heard they're good, non toxic plants for Betta fish.

Are Betta fish low maintenance pets for the classroom? How hard is it to have one with a plant (I love how that looks and I think the kids would too).

Anything you can share about this topic would be helpful. Thanks!
Ashley Wright I have a Betta named Spike. My kids adore him. He is not too much work, other than it is recommended that you change the water once a week, but very two weeks is okay. Also, you have to make sure that they only eat a little and remove the extra. As for with the plant, that is so much easier actually! Just keep the leaves out of the water or it will...See More
