Hi, I am going for my masters in special education and I am interested in applying for the DSAP certificate. Do you need to complete the praxis exams in order to apply for the DSAP?

Anyway, isn't DSAP as special temporary "shortage" permit that a principal applies for where "exceptions" are made but you can only teach for maybe a year and then you have to get your initial certificate and...See More

Math Teach You need to have passed the Praxis 2 (in addition to having 12 credits (that much, eh?)) in the subject area.

It seems to be similar to the "Beyond 40 day sub" permit, with the addition of the Praxis 2 requirement).

Ruth I taught under a DSAP in '07-'08. Unless there have been changes since then, here's how it works:

You don't apply for a DSAP; the school that wants to hire you does. You apply for jobs as anyone would, and if a district can't find a certified teacher in your field and wants to hire you then the district can apply for a DSAP.
