I am considering alternative certification and have been approved by the Oklahoma Alternative Placement Program. During my research on study guides, I came across the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence program as another route. Does anyone have an opinion on which route would be better? It seems like the ABCTE may have a better program and resources to prepare you for the test and classroom. You seem to be on your own with the Oklahoma Alt Placement program and then are required to take so many hours of classes and go through the residency program which you don't with the ABCTE.

The ABCTE has only been approved in the state of Oklahoma since April so I don't know how many people have even gone this route yet. Any opinions?
Al I just completed ABCTE for biology and science certification program. The program is a great alternative to traditional certification. Its definitely worth looking into.

Good luck!
