The Adept evaluation system according to the SCDE is unique to SC, but my viewpoint of this system's "uniqueness" is that it has been around for a long time and is a Trojan horse type of uniqueness. Other than being highly destructive, divisive, extremely costly and immoral the ADEPT system has no other unique features or benefits. The first objection I have against this system is that it requires a teacher to submit to "voluntarily" giving up the right to due process upon signing any teaching contract. I think it is in the best interest of all SC teachers that you do not sign another contract to teach in this state until SCDE restores all of your due process rights. The second objection I have against this system is that SCDE has the policy of not allowing full disclosure to the teacher before a contract is signed.
