The groomer was here early this morning to take of the dog. Plus, the pool guy came at the same time since he couldn't come out on Friday due to the weather. I like to be available while the groomer is here so my walk had to wait until dog was done. I was worried since the temps today were heading to 90s and I don't handle heat well. So, I choose the neighborhood park since the trails are shaded on half of it. I managed 3 miles and decided to not try for a farther distance since it was warming quickly and two neighbors were burning on the upper and lower parts of the trail and the smoke was irritating my eyes.
Elaine, your flowers and community sound wonderful.
Construction started in my kitchen and master bath today. Demolition! Very cool. I walked 5 miles in the morning and another 1 mile in the afternoon. A neighbor came over to check progress and it turned into a wine (for her—I bought some for guests) and cheese (she went back to her place and got a delicious Manchengo (sp?) party. We sat on my balcony in my new chairs (cheap, DD assembled them for me), looked at the grand Pacific Ocean, and felt quite privileged.
I'm really pleased to have finally hit 5 miles again. I'd slowed down a bit and need to get back in the saddle.
Education is about the only thing lying around loose in the world, and it's about the only thing a person can have as much of as s/he's willing to haul away.
I need to find someone who is currently working as a general education teacher with at least three years experiences. The interview will be 10 questions in text and it is for my class.
Thank you!

I am a wimpy driver with anxiety about getting lost. I'm doing better now that I have no choice—and I depend a lot on nav and google maps. After walking I made my first trip since arrival here to Trader Joe's. It was a breeze. I'm so embarrassed that I had to work myself up to going. I'm so excited to have all the proper ingredients for Israeli Salad.
Bev, your bird sightings assure you that sprummer is surely here. Those darn scales (or is it "That darn scales?")
Oh, my Jrod, you stayed home and nearly were attacked by an umbrella; there's danger everywhere. Crazy loop walking is a great term that we could all sometimes use.
Men--what a tragedy that bike accident was! Spinning indoors is safer, though less of a balm to the soul. Your grands are so lucky to have you.
Yesterday I had 9,653 steps before I forgot to take my phone to a nearby town for their "Taste of Goshen" evening. The lines were so long both to buy tickets and then to purchase the food that I gave up on the idea of Palestinian and we sat down inside at our favorite Indian restaurant--ha! I'm sure I made my 10,000 + steps by the time we came home from the big box store with potting soil for the plants we'd bought earlier.
Today was our Habitat golf outing. I took photos; I'm not a golfer, but lots of steps. After cold and then wind, we were lucky to have gorgeous blue skies and "the show went on" albeit with a few cart detours for the new ponds that sprouted on the course this week.
Later a walk and then a 12-mile bike ride. Biking + steps = 16,554 steps, but that's not accurate because of the biking.
Yes, Elaine the community is pretty shook up about the cycling tragedy. He seemed like a fantastic young man who really had a positive affect on everyone he ever met. It's just so sad. Yes, indoor spinning is safer, but just like those guys who love their motorcycles, the freedom, the feel of the wind and the connection to nature can't be beat riding outside. I only use the bike trails when I ride alone but in a group when riding the county roads. My husband and I chuckled when you wrote about the taste of Goshen and you couldn't wait long enough to eat Your chosen food. When we lived there there weren't too many choices for food except Amish cooking!
I didn't ride today but I sure got a workout. The youngest grand just has not been able to ride her two wheeler. I noticed her balance was getting much better on her scooter so I offered to take her out to learn how to ride. The bike is too small for her but I figured it would help her confidence to have it that way. I took her over to the empty parking lot by the athletic fields. Well, she finally got it and after an hour of working on it, we thought she had it. She wanted to practice later and hubby took her out front. She couldn't do it here - those sidewalks are really slanted. Later I took her back to the parking lot and she was able to get around pretty well. However my back and legs ache from all the assistance I gave her earlier. Anyway, mission accomplished.
I have a really busy week ahead with it being the last week of school, Taekwando, 4-H workshops, soccer practice and games, grandparents as parents meeting. a court date, my cycling club new member call out and much more. I am too tired to think about it.
13,571 steps today, mostly on a long walk and a few in the grocery store--ha! I was feeling quite lazy as most of my neighbors were gardening. Soon. ;)
