Today I walked 6 miles with a fr...See MoreI'm so glad you both posted. I'm still here! I'm still walking every day, some days more than others. I'm still doing well on my weight, but it seems like maintainance is just as hard as losing.
I'm emptying out my house and it will go on the market in March. Lots of work to do on it before then.
Bev, cheers on your great weigh-in; your effort is being rewarded. Men, hope your bruises go away soon, without going yellow! Judy, I've been helping my sister pack these past days: such emotion, so many decisions, such muscle work, and then, the selling process. Hugs.
We've been on the road for 2 weeks. I only reached 10,000 steps 3 times. Lots of sitting--in the car, visiting family, etc. My brother is now living in the nursing home, and that sucks.
On the brighter side, we had a day and a half with the grandson. My favorite DGS quote: (After 1/2 hour at a totally chaotic Halloween party with kids everywhere!) his mom asked what he wanted to do. He sighed and said, "I just want to go home and see Daddy and Grandpa." Love that little 2-year-old.
And, we've spent the last 2 days chasing waterfalls in 3 states. Tomorrow, we go home.
We have been given funding from the DFE to deliver FREE MFL training, please see website for information http://www.ltsa.org.uk/GCSE-Spanish-Language-Training-Programme/ . I hope you will be interested in joining either our Spanish or French cohort. Please forward on this opportunity to anyone who will be interested.
I'm currently writing a course for my school that will be a Film as Literature course. Was just wondering if anyone else has a course like that at their school, or teaches a class like that? If so, do you have a textbook recommendation for me? Thanks
NovelWe have Film Studies, which is very similar...but no text book, sorry. We just teach what is needed by the syllabus and ty to adapt previous resources from previous years to save some time - doesn't always work...but the students do love the course and it is exhilerating to teach.
Those seemingly interminable dark walks between houses, long before street-lit safety became an issue, were more adrenalizing than the mountains of candy filling the sack.
Would you recommend staying at my newest job for a few years instead of job searching again? There was nothing wrong with my past two one-year jobs, we just really don't like the state we're in. We thought changing areas this past year would help, but we are somewhere really flat and without mountains or any ocean nearby and we miss these things.
Is that too much job movement? Should we stay here another year or two and then look? I just don't know how this much movement will look on my resume. Or how it will look that I had two one-year positions in a row. Thanks.
This area realized some years back that it isn't in the same category as other cities with large universities of comparable size when it comes to desirability, especially for the younger generation who did not grow up here. The community leaders commissioned some group to collect data to note the positives as well as what needs improving to keep and attract your generation. It takes time to settle in and enjoy a new community, but with the conservative roots this city has, they realized it was the new generation without those roots that needed changes to keep them.
There are a lot of neglected areas in this community being addressed financially by pouring in infrastructure improvements appealing to that group as well as river development, night life, recreational opportunities, etc. They said the younger folks don't give new communities like ours enough years to acclimate and feel positive about living here. There might not be oceans and mountains, but a much lower cost of living and depending on the area less crime and traffic. There are other gorgeous views of nature within a short biking or driving distance.
As to your question about your job, I would think your good references from your recent jobs should be enough to assist in a new position if you are honest why you left. Sometimes it is a spouse's itchy feet that causes lots of job changes.
I hope you get some good advice and you find that place that matches your personal needs. Good luck!
