Back home by 9:30, 30 minutes with my friend, and then an hour walk to our downtown and back.
I needed to gawk at our town's tragedy. We're just 2500 people, and 2 stores in our main block (across the street from our historic courthouse) burned yesterday. One is gone--a huge hole. Another is still standing but will have to be razed. Two others will need total rehab. So sad. Firefighters have been on the scene for more than 24 hours. Of course, we have only volunteer fire departments here. They brought in tankers of water from 3 counties.
It was a spectator sport as we've seldom seen in these parts. Facebook photos delivered the news to those of us who didn't want to join the "party." I hope that the spaces are filled eventually, though our downtown has already been struggling for a decade.
I hope that your cold improves soon; that return to the school cauldron of germs will do it every time. In the dark ages when I started, we had 10 sick days the first year and then 7 after we'd become immune. Hopefully.
Elaine/ret/INBev, thanks, too, for the roll call love. Life changes, doesn't it? You are rocking those steps. Well, not really because that would be sedentary. Wear your bathing suit to WW to be sure. ;)
1. They are to be marked present when they arrive late or leave early
2. Absent students receive credit for in class work as if they were present in class.
2. Questions and answers to quizzes, mid-term and final exam will be provided to students in writing one week prior to testing.
3. Quizzes and exams will be administered "open book".
4. Syllabus provided is unacceptable.
Not going to happen.
All students, not just a few, tell me other teachers provide all the above and create a student friendly syllabus rather that use one provided by college.
Other teachers tell me officially "follow provided syllabus". Unofficially I'm told to "go with the flow". My ethics and desire to prepare students for employment will not permit me to "go with the flow".
Students made it clear I will comply or they go to administration and I'll be fired.
Only 5438 steps, so far. Not feeling up to par this morning, but went to pt workout, ran errands, and took DM to hair appt. Now feel like taking a nap. lol Almost time to return to DMs for dinner and the night. Too much to do and not enough time to do it!! Maybe early bed time for me tonight.
11,80 steps here today. I canned 5 quarts of beets today--from the farmer's market, from a friend, from my garden. That may be my last canning ever. A lot of work for only 5 quarts. On the other hand, they are beautiful. And, they will be tasty on salads this winter.
Many years ago, there was a rule about having classrooms within the same approximate area of same age group.. Is this still such a thing? My principal is wanting to put a 3rd grade classroom in the PK hallway and we were wondering if this was still an issue.

If you have any books, online resources, articles, tips, YouTube videos, suggestions, ideas, parent comments, personal comments etc. please send them my way.
Very few people in the world Language department are trained in working with students with special needs and I am hoping to put together a reference guide/list of resources to help them out to be sure they can comfortably and confidently meet the different accommodations we are getting more and more often.
If you have any suggestions as to how FL teachers can "do" an accommodation please send that on. If you could also let me know if any of the SPED teachers/aids have a background in any world language that we as a department could use as a resource please send me their name and what language.
Thanks tons and tons. This will be an ongoing project that I will keep adding to so if you randomly come up with an idea or new resource please send it my way.
