I know riding 18 miles on the spinning bike seems like a lot, but for some reason doing that many miles outside is a lot harder. I am not sure why that is the case. I know outside I have to add balancing the bike as I ride. Also I use clips on the bottom of my shoes that attach my cycling shoes to the top of the pedals on the spinning bike. I ride my retro bike without those and one uses different leg muscles to pedal. I noticed how much easier it was to pedal using my clip shoes in class right away. I could pedal much faster with those clips. I am finding that there is a lot about riding bikes that zI don't know.
No hills in your spinning bike! :...See MoreThanks, Men. Interesting that riding inside is easier. I've heard how much easier it is to ride w shoe clips. I don't want to use them because I feel like they add another layer of possibly injuring myself. I have taken my share of bike spills over the years but have so far--knock on wood--escaped injury.
Hi fellow teachers! Please answer the following questions for a class I'm taking. How have you responded to diversity in your school? How have you created education equity in your classroom or school?
I had an interview with Principal and he stated he wants to hire me. HR contacted me the same say and asked to clairfy information on my application. When will I receive a email job offer?
I spent 45 minutes on the treadmill watching a ghost program. I plugged in my headphones to hear the program since I can't read the closed captioning without my glasses.
I did the interval program option available on the treadmill. It was two minutes moderate pace (no incline, 3 mph) and two minutes at a brisker pace (3.0-3.5 incline, 3.5-4.2 mph). I increased the brisker pace each time until I topped out at 4.2 mph with 3.5 incline. It was fast enough that I was almost to the point of jogging to keep up. My heart rate went from 112 to 145 during each interval. Stretching after the workout felt good.
After my workout, I decided that my hair needed some TLC. I haven't colored it or trimmed it since late March and it was looking rough! I felt so much better after the stylist was down. She did a great scalp massage.
Elaine/ret/IN45 minutes of yoga. 30 minutes of walking. 1 1/4 hour of biking. It came out to 11,739 steps. My phone/pedometer was generous with steps on my pedals on the bike.
We had strong storms late afternoon, and we had to dodge sticks (and, at one place, a tree limb) on the bike path.
I hope I'm not too late, but I am a first grade teacher that would love to be part of a postcard exchange. If anyone still needs someone from Idaho, I would appreciate joining your postcard exchange. Thank you so much.
We picked them up in the cafeteria on day 1 and got them in some sort of line (with help) and modeled that we walk "hips and lips" (1 hand on the hip so no touching, and a finger on the lip which reminded them that there is no talking). I walked down the hall backwards so I could keep an eye on the class.
In the room I had coloring sheets and old crayons on the table to give them something to do while I tried to take attendance and get them situated. Only put out something that you think they can do independently and will keep them busy at the table. I had them hang their backpack on the chair where they chose to sit (no name tags) and I went around to each child, checked their back pack. Then I showed them wear to hang it up.
Keep the first several days very light because this may be their first experience with school. Every day you will repeat the same things until you are saying it in your sleep but it WILL get better if you take the time in the beginning to get things and them the way you want it.
A few suggestions: give everyone a name tag and have them wear it the first several days, take a "tour" of the room, have very few things accessible and add to them only after you show them how to use the materials and where they go. Break everything down into steps (Child X, 1)stand up, 2)push your chair in, 3) walk to the rug, 4) sit on the red square, 5) cross your legs 6) put your hands in your lap (praise, and repeat with another child until everyone is on the rug. Don't be afraid to have the child do it again if it wasn't done right.
There is NO tired like kindergarten teacher tired during the 1st week of school but it gets better - just hang in there!
flackaAs to the success of such a business, I think it would depend on cost and how convenient it would be to bring things to you - late evening and weekend hours would be important as would a quick turn around time. If you offered to pick up and deliver the laminating I might be interested.
I never minded asking willing parents to do laminating cutting for me and I always had at least a couple dependable ones each year to cut out things. I preferred laminating small items on my little home laminator and when I had large prints, I just dropped those off at Staples. The big ones were rare so most were laminated by me and cut by parents.
If I were you, I would contact the local places that laminate (like Staples) and see if the price you thought would be worth your time(and what happens when an item gets damaged). It makes sense to think teachers could use a service like this, but I know I wouldn't have.
jrod-I wish I was working ou...See MoreI rode my bike on my own this morning before the oppressive heat hit. I was able to get in about 11 miles in. I took the youngest dgd to the pool after supper and she picked up some new "skills" like floating on her back and doing the kid favorite Cannonball! Place was packed with folks trying to beat the heat.
jrod-I wish I was working out with you. Since I can't, I will just have to pretend I am I guess.
