Yes, it's quite common for School Psychologists to be shared between two or even three schools. As for interviewing I have seen/heard it done different ways. If the position is technically on one school's manpower agreement, then one principal could well do the interviewing for it. It's not that unusual. You could still call HR and find out who was handling your file if there is some action you need taken or information you need.

Yes, it is true. Many schools will still have relatively unexpected openings due to retirements (many teachers wait to put in their papers if waiting until school starts offers a benefit to them or they just decide at the last minute) or PCS moves (if they are a contractor or military spouse).

We are going to move to Japan in June (because my wife is Japanese), and
I try to get a high school SS teacher position at one of dod schools in Japan..
It seems like people already received referrals and interviews...

It's not too late but you would have your work cut out for you. You did the right thing, I think it's better to answer and politely decline than to ignore. Either way, the real kiss of death is turning down an offer after accepting an interview. Generally, turning down an interview should not affect your eligibility for other positions (as opposed to turning down an offer). Maybe the universe is punishing you for turning down a chance that thousands of other people would kill for (J/K, mostly).

I have been placed on four referral lists the last two weeks, but no interviews.
What does it mean to get on a referral list? Does that mean a principal inquired about you and you end up on the list?

Teach, I agree that the lists do not reflect who we are since you only attach transcripts and write a little info under skills. When the principal e-mailed me, I accepted the interview.
