I am curious, where (area, bases) is there usually the most need? Where are you most likely to see higher turnover rates? I am wondering if I should be opening up my preferences to more locations.
The bad news is that you might get all the way to an interview or even an offer, only to find out that DoDEA does not consider you qualified in your target areas. By the time you correct that, or even straighten out a misunderstanding, the chance would be passed.
That actually happened to us. A principal interviewed me and said they would love to hire me, but weren't sure I would make it through the HR vetting (even though I actually was deemed qualified in one area). It turned out to be alright in the end, as it showed me what I needed to do to have a real chance to get hired with DoDEA (unfortunately, it took several more years for another chance to come along).
Lindsey@witeacher my qualifications were pending for a year and a half. I finally called someone and got them to take a look. They emailed someone for me and it was qualified within the week. They kept telling me that I would still receive referrals but I did not receive one during that time frame. Could have been my combo of certs who knows?
Has anyone on here applied to Guam from the EAS while in DoDEA already? I am looking into it for my high three but EAS indicates that you need to have a recommendation from your current admin. Must it be the form from EAS, can they just pull our reviews of MyBiz, or can it be a letter?
onthemoveI didn't get an indication, rather, somewhere on that reference page, it notes that you must have one from your current admin. I entered my current admin but didn't select for it to send a form. From what Icanread has posted, it seems like I will need to do so.
Very weird, but I updated my principal's info On EAS due to recent changes in Email format, and the system automatically requested a recommendation, even though there was already one there. She told me she received a request, it was awkward.....Not planning or been eligible to move just yet.
I currently work for DoDEA, I received 2 referrals for two AP openings. I contacted the principals with a very short email and also attached my current resume. I am wondering if this was a good idea or does it come off as unprofessional? TIA
If you're applying as an outsider, I would read eve...See MoreI would venture to say that most principals and assistants are hired from within Dodea. Not all of them... but most. Dodea is a unique system and there's a lot to learn about how it works. So being a teacher first is a great way to get your foot in the door and start to learn the system.
If you're applying as an outsider, I would read everything you can about Dodea to make sure you come across as knowledgeable in the interview. Dodea runs things very differently than most stateside districts.
hahaI would agree, as far as principals go. With AP's it is definitely more of a mix in my limited experience (although I would love to be able to see some actual data on the subject).
What is the trick to uploading official transcripts? I had it figured out for last years application but can't remember what I did. Each time the PDF is uploaded it says 'invalid'.
On the Legal Notice page that you have to click on before you login, it says "In an effort to mitigate Cross Site Scripting(XSS) attacks, all data entered into the application will be scanned. Any word or combination of words that constitute an XSS attack will be replaced by the text '[INVALID]'. See the OWASP website for details".
This is my first year of probation working as a DoDEA stateside emoloyee. Can I get my EAS unlocked and how would I go about this? I love my principal and new position, but if a foreign post came up I think it would be a great experience for me and my family.
I'm am checking to see when we can begin putting our application together for the 2020-21 school year. It is to my understanding the Army has taken over HR, and the ability to call in to ask questions has gone away. Everything has to be emailed to USARMY.APG.CHRA-NE.MBX.APPLICANTHELP@mail.mil.
If you are on the outside looking in like me and have a different experience with the changes with the application, please let me know. Thank you!
Lindsey@Daniel I found that this system has been much more applicant friendly. I used to try and call and call but get no answer or a returned call. I feel like they are much more responsive now.
I received my start date of March 2nd today. For all the current DoDDS folks...what do you think is an appropriate time to arrive there? I have PCS'd before with my husband a few times before he passed but it was stateside. I am heading to Germany and curious as to how much time you all think I will need to get everything in order ie. get my drivers license, house hunt some, and get somewhat settled/organized. Will there be a lot of in processing tasks that I will need to complete upon arrival? I am pretty flexible at my current job so I can leave whenever really of course so long as it is within orders time frame and passports are back.
Lindsey@someday woah that is nuts!! I better get on that now. @icanread oh my the next day?? I would be a zombie. @haha I have only lived in very big cities...sounds like there will be a bit of a culture shock for me lol
MullinzoYes, haha, Disabled Preschool is the cert needed for PSCD. It looks like I'm 7 unites short of the SPED Assessor cert and my Moderate to Severe cert is still pending approval. Thank you both for the insights. I appreciate it.
