HelpOthersThis timeline was not even correct as of January 30th. Make sure you are reading the official guidance at both Iwakuni and the military facility where you would stay in Tokyo.
primarypodThere should be a Covid Team at MCAS Iwakuni specifically for DoDEA. Contact your school secretary to confirm that you are following the most current protocol for your specific location. The only US Government managed hotels in the area are on MCAS Iwakuni.
I do not have state licensure but have been a preK and kindergarten teacher in independent schools for 19 years. Is it possible to work for DODEA without being licensed??
I would prefer to not let my current employer know I will apply for the 2022-23 school year when it opens in EAS. If I am able to obtain an interview, I would then prefer to add them. Is this okay?
LBC7199haha, this is truly helpful and I really like the way you suggested to spin it to admin. I think my admin would be supportive but I know it is a longshot but it is good not to blindside them too. Thank you for the awesome advice.

hahaAgree. Maybe check and see if any schools in your state/county will give you college credit on a transcript for some of that work. Unlikely that they will and/or that DoDEA will take it, but worth a few calls/emails.
I am a current DoDEA teacher, I have been applying for admin openings on USAJobs and have received many referrals for some of the postings but never an interview. My question is, if it looks bad/unprofessional to contact the community superintendent? Would it burn the bridge for that region or others? TIA!
IcanreadI believe that form is for employment verification to figure out where you would fall on the pay scale when/if you get hired. I don't believe it would need to be submitted now. That will definitely be submitted once you get a job offer.
hahaGood catch. I totally missed the subject (and the point of what was being asked apparently). :S
Yep. Usually those are submitted after an offer, although some people recently have said that they uploaded to EAS. We mailed ours in as part of the onboarding paperwork, way back when.
Thomas PThe area you're in also heavily plays into it. If you're applying for a job in a city or some other highly-populated area chances are there's going to be a lot of people looking for the position, but if you're out in a rural area you're likely to have little to no competition for the spot.
How do the locations/costs of living compare? How does the money compare (salary +post allowance)? I would try and figure this out without LQA because they have been pretty stingy recently with granting LQA if you are not recruited from the states.
IcanreadBased on Dodea's recent track record with teachers who are currently overseas, you will most likely not qualify for housing benefits or return travel. You would have to return to US soil for 12 months before applying/interviewing if you would like to receive LQA, etc.
What are the odds for a teacher with a VA rating of 30 percent disability (or more) who is meeting the requirements for an opening in EAS to make the referral list (and get an interview)? Thank you for any and all input!
