I'm sure your new supervisor can update as to the probability of keeping your job.

somedayThere is a chance this could happen but the military communities are going to put up one heck of a fight. I give it a 10% chance of happening across all installations within 5 years. Just a guess though!
hahaTrue. It's written like a new story but it has been kicking around for years. It may happen, it may not. It is true that it may be one factor to consider when accepting a DoDEA stateside job.
I will be starting (first day of work) exactly 3 months from receipt of Tentative offer to an overseas position.
In-processing paperwork completed and sent within 3 weeks.
Security check took 6 weeks from start to finish, including wait time (2 weeks) to receive Equip link. Fingerprint cards submitted within 1 week after receiving them. Cleared from security 5 weeks after receipt of fingerprint cards. I completed SF-86.
Once cleared at week 8 after initial offer, Final offer, Orders and passports came within a week.
I was given a report date within 30 days. UB, HHG, and NTS was completed and scheduled within 2 weeks of orders - on move.mil.
PRR request submitted directly to SATO office - turnaround time 3 buisness days.
I submitted my PRR request in order to get travel arrangements but only received a "printed for processing" email. How long did yours take? I wanted to leave Monday...:(
Looking to quickly add more SPED qualifications to my approved areas. Does anyone have a suggestion for a quick way to do so? I will finish my master's in administration in April so would prefer an online work at my own speed option. Thanks in advance.
It's not completely clear cut but basically if you are a local hire who has been made permanent after two years and are then transferred, reassigned, or otherwise moved to a new posting more than 10 miles away from your old post, then you would generally qualify for LQA.
As to whether it's smarter to move back to the states, it is complicated. As someone else posted, teachers in many states are not all that well paid so you would be starting at the bottom of the pay scale that is generally a lot lower then DoDEA'S. Then there's the question of whether your husband could work/work right away back in the states. And, if your goal is to work with DoDEA overseas, you would essentially be joining the line of 10's thousands of candidates looking to get hired. SPED certs (and possibly the language certs) would help, but many people wait years for an interview/offer and many others never get one.
So, given your situation, if there is any chance of getting hired right away in Germany, it is probably worth serious consideration. You might also be able to find something at an int'l school in Germany, but would also likely be considered a local hire with no/few benefits beyond salary.
1. Does anyone know if we are supposed to print something to mail in after completing the E-QIP Paperwork? I submitted the docs, but I think I was supposed to print something and mail it in, no?
2. Are we supposed to mail in the fingerprinting forms as well?
3. Also, I just realized that I put the wrong number down for my Naturalization Certificate number (I put my INS Registration number by mistake). What should I/ can I do to change this after the fact?
2. Yes, you have to send the fingerprint cards in. I recommend sending them over night Fed Ex. I know it is a little pricey, but it is worth to track the package and get the process going. Less waiting for the cards to get there in the mail.
3. I really don't have advice for this, other then immediately calling someone to get it straightened out. I think it would just take more time if you wait for them to notice.
teacherlife62411I will, Laura! You guys will be the first to know, since I have gleaned so much info from this chat board! It has LITERALLY Helped put my worries (and me) to bed!
Hi! I was offered a teacher position in Iwakuni on September 20 and filled out all the initial paperwork the next day. I am still waiting on a contact regarding a background check. I heard they were backlogged but is this normal? How long does the process normally take? Thank you!
HelpOthersAsk them for the background check person's contact information if they are willing to give it. The Equip form itself should not be taking this long to receive. The background check itself, yes unfortunately.
