I really have not done any exercise except walking the dgd to or from school. I figured my long ride Saturday could count for a couple shorter exercise days. I actually have a good excuse because I have reentered the work force as of yesterday. I am going to co teach in a small preschool four mornings M-TH til 12:30. I actually got offered two jobs but this one fit my criteria- close to home, half days with at least one full day during the week off. This was perfect. The staff is great and my co teacher is super organized. I am excited that this opened up last week for me. These hours work perfectly for our family with all the grandkids' activities going on. Same holidays off. Summer off to cycle. I'm good.
So, since outside rides are numbered with fall around the corner, I should still be able to do spinning on Friday and Sunday this winter.
I was hoping jrod would be back by now. She must have really injured those feet.
Only 3,611 steps for me today. I don't see how you keep it up with the young ones, Men. Whew! But, we did have a fun day. We just stayed home, and used the sprinkler, went to a local ice cream place (well, stayed home most of the day), had Great-Grandpa over for dinner, went to the library (guess we ventured out twice--ha!), read lots of books, did a treasure hunt, etc. etc.
Walk. Walk. Walk. Walk. Or do whatever your heart desires
Feet are slowly improving. I went to the doctor for the joint pain and they are just strained. Doctor said to lay of lifting until zero pain. That may be weeks or months, just depends on me following orders.
My hope was to get back to gym for pool and cardio exercises, but mom's knees require PT and I have to drive her to her appointments. I have to work around her schedule. Then Harvey hit!
We didn't sustain much damage here, but my brother's home in Rockport was hit by the hurricane. He has some damage that can be repaired, but his neighbor's home was lost. My husband and I plan to go down on Saturday with him since authorities are limiting access to residents only. He still has no power or water so we will have to bring everything with us. It is just so sad.
The gym will wait until I can physically and mentally return.
Please keep my fellow Texans who have been affected by this hurricane in your thoughts and prayers, especially my baby brother.
We are in week 5 of the school year and my high school daughter does not have a teacher for her US & World Affairs class. They have a sub and every day for 5 weeks he has asked the class to read out of their book for the entire class period. Should I be concerned or does this happen sometimes, when a school is looking to hire a teacher?
hst@yahoo.comI have been teaching high school for 13 years and must tell you, that this does happen. I am disappointed that the sub is not giving stronger assignments. Is this an elective and the class your daughter is the only section? That could explain the lack of lesson plans but I think it is reasonable to expect more. I am disappointed that the sub is not giving stronger assignments. Is this an elective and the class your daughter is the only section? That could explain the lack of lesson plans but I think it is reasonable to expect more. That being said, if the prior teacher left over the summer or just prior to the school year, it can be difficult to find a replacement since most teachers looking to change positions are doing so late in the school year or at the very start of the summer. In our state we have a 30 day waiting period before a teacher's current school releases them from their position. Sometimes things look good that a replacement has been found, but then something falls apart in the vetting process. We just had this happen at our school and had it happen last year for a different position. I am curious as to what other classes the new teacher will be asked to teach. It may be that the school needs a specific set of experience or skills and that is limiting the pool of potential hirees. It is very reasonable for you to cantact the principal and inquire about the status of a replacement and about the quality of instruction.
I received my CEAS in 2008 and work less than a year so never transitioned to a standard certificate. I know the Provisional Certificates have expired long ago but when I looked up my certification it showed no expiration date for my CEAS.
Does the CEAS expire?
Can I, theoretically, start looking for a position?
10,386 official steps today. Plus some batch cooking. The grands are headed our way on their last week before school starts. I don't want to waste time cooking . . . we have places to go and things to do. ;)
I am wondering how you guys involve the parents in your classrooms? And how do you make sure that there is good communication and that the parents are feeling involved in their child's day to day time in school?
