What classes should I take for the Moderately to Severly Impaired category? I am looking at Introduction to Cognitive Disabilities and Curriculum and Methods for Severely and Behavioral Disabilities. Will these satisfy at least 6 of the 12 hours that I need to qualify for this area?
I ❤ spedI would call HR to double check. I took a class called mild to moderate intellectual disabilities thinking it would be ok since it had intellectual disabilities in it. They did not accept it. Definitely call to ask.
hahaUnfortunately it often seems to come down to the individual HR evaluator's discretion. There is no reason that class should not have counted for you based on their own recent practices and explanations (and if another person had your file it may well have).
Does anyone know if you and your family are allowed to use Base Facilities if you work for DDESS? Just curious to know if you are able to use the gym, water park, etc. on base.
????Actually...from personal experience DDESS employees can use the gyms, water park (there is a fee for the water park) and pools on their locations (at least my location...I assume all state side too). Only location we are not allowed to use is the P/X and exchange unless you are a vet.
How come the posts are not reordering based on the recent comments anymore? Am I doing something wrong? Now I have to always scroll through posts to see if anyone added to previous ones.
I wanted to add an endorsement but thought I would ask someone first if my credits would count before saying I'd like to be endorsed. The numbers I have called always get to no one picking up. What number do you call?
SandArtRedclover, since you are doing background check stuff, I assume you have a job offer. Would you say reaching out directly benefitted you? Did you get hired by someone whom you contacted directly?
Redclover711In the case of the offer I received, I got an offer from a school that I had not contacted yet. So I don't really know if it benefitted me or not. All I can say is that by having the email, it may have made my name stick out on a referral list. However, in this case there was no email to check against since I had not sent one to that principal.
How does DODEA determine dependency? It seems clear for children under 21, but what about dependent parents/parent-in-laws? I have found some information but not much.
Redclover711I read the below HR newsletter last night. In the case that dependency cannot be fully established, is there a difference between members of household and dependents?
hahaI believe to be on orders and be eligible for flights, SOFA status, base privileges etc they have to be determined to be dependents (using the guidelines outlined in the newsletter). When in doubt though ask HR for the current accurate info. because they unfortunately stopped the newsletters years ago.
Just finished getting my fingerprints done at DODEA headquarters in VA. They said they should have results by Monday and then I should get a firm offer.
Snow LaneSo I think the requirements for fingerprints vary by what your state has/does for fingerprints. I live in Texas and here you go through the Department of Public Safety, get fingerprint card, and have to mail it to a different service for your check. Maybe Texas is just unique.
I think I may be on the verge of getting an offer (I interviewed for 2 of 4 positions I received requests for- 1 I think I missed the interview window because I was out of the country and my voicemail was not functioning in Spain) Anyway, the person handling my file at HR has been sending me lots of emails requesting that I get my verification of e...See MoreI think I may be on the verge of getting an offer (I interviewed for 2 of 4 positions I received requests for- 1 I think I missed the interview window because I was out of the country and my voicemail was not functioning in Spain) Anyway, the person handling my file at HR has been sending me lots of emails requesting that I get my verification of experience and have my professional evaluations sent in because it looks like they're doing a deep background check and she seems urgent- I have worked for 3 different districts over the past 12 years and this is quite the headache because 2 are out of state, and one of my former supervisors doesn't even work at my old district anymore. I am a bit nervous that my potential offer of employment may rest in the hands of my current and former districts completing the necessary forms properly and in a timely manner. I have also realized after traveling a lot the past few weeks both to Europe and out of state that I have suddenly developed major anxiety when flying, which I have never had before, including having a panic attack between Barcelona and JFK last week (thank goodness my husband was sitting next to me to help me through it) Any suggestions for how to overcome this? And on a random note, if this does happen- how easy is it for a spouse to get a work visa in Germany? My husband can substitute teach, but there is also a company there conveniently where I interviewed that is potentially interested in him, and his friend who grew up over there said there are lots of schools that look for people to train business people how to communicate professionally in English.
hahaThe current schools are named Perry (an elementary and a middle/high school). I believe they are adding an additional elementary school and middle school (both named Iwakuni) due to growth. I also understand that there is a new high school building replacing the old (but still going by the name Perry).
